Kögun operates four divisions in two branch offices in Iceland. Located at the headquarters in Reykjavík Iceland, the Software Systems Division, Product Development Division, Consultation Division and the Sales and Marketing Division provide consultation, development and system engineering services to both defence sector and commercial customers.

Primarily located at Grindavík, the Engineering Division is responsible for the operation of the US Navy Radio Transmitter Facility (NRTF) through a support contract with the US Navy awarded in 2006. The Engineering Division has also continued to provide engineering support for the IADS system.

As of 1 October 2006 Kögun merged with its subsidiary Verk- og Kerfisfræðistofan hf. (VKS) under the name of Kögun, creating a company of over 100 IT specialists. This merger was logical, since the two companies have been closely run together for a number of years on the same premises and share many operational functions i.e., accounting, quality management and other facilities. Both companies are ISO 9001 accredited in all areas of their operations. VKS was the first Icelandic software company to receive an ISO 9001 quality certification; it also received the Icelandic quality award for the year 1999 and is known in Iceland as a pioneer in the improvement of software quality management.
